Nikita Dragun's mother is Mexican and her father is Vietnamese.
Nikita Dragun has denied that she has been wearing blackface after a Twitter user accused her of darkening her skin to an offensive level. In a tweet, which has now been deleted, someone compared the YouTuber's skin tone to blackface. "Why is @NikitaDragun so damn dark now," the tweet read, alongside photos of Nikita with differing skin colours.

In response, Nikita replied with a photo of herself where she appeared to be a teenager or younger, with her natural skin colour. "Cus my moms mexican and my dads viet... other races get tan but go off [sic]," she wrote, alongside the image.
Later, Nikita (who has previously said that she loves a spray tan) basically admitted that her tan wasn't natural, but she does naturally get a darker complexion when in the sun. A fan commented beneath the post: "People will say, 'No it’s a spray tan.' Like who cares if you naturally tan that dark anyway does it really matter? Some people don’t like being pale in winter."
Nikita replied: "I can't go in the sun anymore... my family has a high risk of skin cancer."

This wouldn't be the first time Nikita has been accused of being problematic. In February, Nikita was accused of blackface again because of her dark complexion. She has also received criticism for cultural appropriation for wearing box braids and a durag.
