Bernie Sanders predicted what might happen on election night weeks ago
President-Elect Joe Biden has a certain ring to it, don't you think?
It's official: Joe Biden is on course to defeat Donald Trump and become the become the 46th President of the United States of America. And the internet is celebrating the only way it knows how...with memes.
After four days of agony waiting to hear the results in swing states like Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania, the fate of the election was all but sealed when Biden pulled ahead yesterday (Nov 6) in vote counts in the aforementioned states, aided by a huge Democrat surge of mail-in ballots.
Today (Nov 7), AP officially called Biden to win in Pennsylvania, pushing him over the 270 electoral college votes needed to win outright, with a current total of 284 votes at the time of writing (4:30pm GMT) (UPDATE: Biden has now taken Nevada too, taking his total to 290).
Not only will Joe Biden become president but Kamala Harris will be the first woman and the first person of colour to become vice president.

Writing on his official Twitter account, Biden said: "America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me."
